The Gear Show podcast recently featured a conversation with Boulder Hut Owner/Operator Sarah Yancey.

Sarah and show host Lisa Gerber discuss how Sarah and Mark came to own and run a backcountry ski touring operation and talk about the practicalities of living a dream, running a business, raising kids, trends in the backcountry ski lodge industry, and the higher purpose of it all -- the greater impact on the people who visit, the environment in which they operate, and their legacy of course, those lucky kids, Grace and Alden.

2018 SKI SEASON . . . WOW!

What a winter it has been! With our snow pack at 250 cm and growing, our ski stoke is still on! Spring days are long and sunny (when not dumping). The light on the mountains is breathtaking. And the skiing? Well, it's amazing!

Powder runs, long tours and ski mountaineering objectives are all in. Consider postponing your dry land activities a little longer next year because post-Equinox days at the Boulder Hut are epic!

Nonetheless, we are wrapping things up at the hut and wanted to give a huge thanks to our guests, staff, visiting guides, friends, and family who helped to make another season a success.

A few highlights from the season include an intensive lodge-based AST 2 course, a budding relationship with Outdoor Research, a new rental AT fleet, more good press in US and CA ski mags, heli-accessed day tours, Ptarmigan Hut catered lodge rental.

Look for a return to offering a CAA Industry Level 1 Avalanche Course in 2019.

All good things come to and end and even thought the snow is still amazing, we're calling our 2018 ski season a wrap at the Boulder Hut.
